Steelers Promote John Malecki From Practice Squad & Release Corbin Bryant

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a roster move on Saturday, and as expected, offensive lineman John Malecki was signed off of the practice squad and defensive end Corbin Bryant was released to make room for him.

Malecki can play both center and guard and he originally signed with the Steelers in August of 2011. The University of Pittsburgh product has been on the Steelers practice squad all season after being on it for parts of 2011 as well.

The move means that Malecki will dress Sunday night against Cincinnati Bengals and he will serve as the emergency center and swing guard behind Doug Legursky.

Bryant had been signed to the 53 man roster on Tuesday when nose tackle Alameda Ta\'amu was place on the suspended list. Bryant had been with the team all through training camp and the preseason prior to his release just before the season started.

About Dave Bryan

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

I like Bryant from what little I have seen of him. I don’t remember much talk about Malecki throughout training camp, which is probably a bad sign. Anyone have opinions about his development and/or potential?

I would have rather seem Ryan Lee get the spot. Not sure if he can play center so that was probably why he didn’t get the spot
