Steelers Sign Malecki & McCoy To Practice Squad, Release Bryant

The Pittsburgh Steelers released defensive end Corbin Bryant from the practice squad on Tuesday and re-signed offensive linemen John Malecki and tight end Jamie McCoy to the eight man unit.

Malecki had been waived on Saturday from the 53 man roster when the Steelers promoted safety Damon Cromartie-Smith from the practice squad to play on special teams. McCoy had been released from the practice squad two weeks ago when the Steelers signed guard Jacques McClendon.

Nose tackle Alameda Ta\’amu was reinstated to the roster late on Monday following his two week suspension and the Steelers were granted a roster exemption for him until 4:00 p.m. Wednesday. By that time the Steelers will need to release someone from the 53 man roster to make room for Ta\’amu. That player very well could wind up being Cromartie-Smith, who should eventually find his way back to the practice squad by later on this week or Tuesday at the latest.
