4 AFC Teams Can Clinch Playoff Spots In Week 13 – Playoff Scenarios

It is only Week 13 of the 2012 NFL season and we are already running out of drama as far as which teams will win their divisions in the AFC and which teams will be battling for a Wild Card spot.

Only 7 teams in the AFC enter week 13 with a winning record and thankfully the Pittsburgh Steelers are one of those teams. However, a loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday would put them at .500 and would allow the Ravens to clinch the AFC North division should the Cincinnati Bengals lose to the San Diego Chargers.

The New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos can also clinch their divisions as well this week simply by winning their games. The Houston Texans can\’t clinch the AFC South this weekend, but they can clinch a playoff berth a number of ways with winning being the easiest of them.

A loss by Steelers on Sunday would mean that they would be guaranteed to start the playoffs on the road, assuming that they make the playoffs as one of the two Wild Card teams.

Below are your AFC Playoff Scenarios for Week 13:

Houston clinches a playoff spot with:

1) HOU win or tie OR

2) MIA loss or tie + PIT loss or tie OR

3) MIA loss or tie + CIN loss or tie OR

4) PIT loss + CIN loss

Baltimore clinches AFC North division with:

1) BAL win + CIN loss

Baltimore clinches a playoff spot with:

1) BAL win OR

2) BAL tie + CIN loss + MIA loss or tie

New England clinches AFC East division with:

1) NE win

Denver clinches AFC West division with:

1) DEN win OR

2) DEN tie + SD loss or tie OR

3) SD loss

We really made things hard on ourselves by losing to the Browns, if we lose this week against the Ravens we pretty much need to win out, unless Cinci goes on a slump -GO Chargers!

The loss to the Browns wasn’t any worse than the ones to the Titans and Raiders. Three horrible losses to really bad teams. The last time a Steeler playoff team lost to three sub .500 teams was Cowher’s 1993 squad. They finished 9-7 and got dumped in the wildcard round to Montana and the Chiefs. That’s probably about as good as can be expected of this year’s team…provided they even make the playoffs.

If we get there, I think we can make some noise in the playoffs, provided Ben is healthy and they stick with Dwyer at RB because the Defense has been playing great and will keep us in games. Just need to SCORE POINTS

It’s paramount that we win this game Sunday. we can’t let the Ravens clinch the division this early. We probably won’t have Ben but Brown will be back as well as TP on defense. With him roaming around, the defense should force at least 2 turnovers.
