Roethlisberger Has Rib Dislocation In Addition To Shoulder Sprain That Could Kill Him
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger talked to the local media on Wednesday for the first time since he left the Monday night game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a right shoulder injury.
Head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Roethlisberger had suffered an SC sprain of the right shoulder and on Wednesday Roethlisberger revealed that he had partially dislocated a rib on the play in addition.
According to Twitter reports on Wednesday by Will Graves of the Associated Press and Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Roethlisberger said that the rib injury is causing more pain than the SC joint sprain and indicated that the pain is a "9" on a scale of 1-10. Playing with the injury is a huge risk as well, according to the quarterback, who told the media the injury to the rib could kill him by pressing against his aorta if he played.
Roethlisberger told the media that there is currently no timetable for his return. The quarterback was ruled out for the Sunday night game against the Baltimore Ravens and it appears he will miss several more games in addition to that one.
