Steelers Versus Chiefs Projected Inactive List

With the promotion of wide receiver David Gilreath to the active roster now out of the way for Pittsburgh Steelers, we can now look at the projected inactive list for the Monday nigght game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

4 of the 7 names on the list this week will be inactive this week because those players have been ruled out for the game due to injuries and 1 more on the list was listed as doubtful. Those players are: Marcus Gilbert, Troy Polamalu, Stevenson Sylvester, Antonio Brown and Rashard Mendenhall. That leaves three spots left to be filled on the inactive list and they are pretty easy to figure out.

Troy Polamalu – Polamalu will miss his fifth straight game on Monday due to the calf injury that has bothered him all season. The Steelers safety did not practice all week so the hope is that he can work next week and be ready for the Sunday night game against the Baltimore Ravens. There is no guarantee that will happen so right now he is still considered week-to-week.

Marcus Gilbert – Gilbert remains sidelined with an ankle injury that he sustained in the game against the Tennessee Titans. He was able to practice on a limited basis on Thursday, but was unable to go on both Friday and Saturday. There is speculation that he might have suffered a setback, so I would not bet on him being able to suit up next Sunday night against the Ravens.

Stevenson Sylvester – Sylvester suffered a hamstring injury against the Washington Redskins and was still unable to practice this week. He was officially ruled out on the Saturday injury report and should be considered week-to-week right now.

Antonio Brown – Brown suffered a left high ankle sprain last Sunday in the win over the New York Giants and was eventually officially ruled out for the Monday night game on Saturday as expected. There are some reports that suggest Brown will not be ready for the Ravens game as well, but we shall see where the practice report takes us next week. The Steelers promoted Gilreath to the active roster on Sunday and he will serve as the fourth receiver against the Chiefs.

Rashard Mendenhall – Mendenhall was able to practice again on a limited basis all of this past week, but he is still not ready to return from the strained Achilles that he suffered against the Titans. You would have to think that he is close to returning to action and hopefully that will be Sunday night against the Ravens.

Chris Carter – Carter was added to the injury report on Saturday after missing practice with an abdomen injury. He was listed as questionable on the injury report and my guess is that he will be held out Monday night as a result. If he is indeed active, look for Adrian Robinson to be down instead.

Charlie Batch – Batch should be inactive on Sunday yet again. No changes here.
