Bengals Win Over Eagles Means Nothing To The Steelers

The Cincinnati Bengals beat the Philadelphia Eagles 34-13 Thursday night which now puts them a half a game ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers heading into the weekend.

Several do not like to hear it, but the Steelers game Sunday game against the Dallas Cowboys is not a must win even though the Bengals won Thursday night. It is if the Steelers want to have any chance of winning the AFC North, but to make the playoffs, they will have to beat Bengals and then the Cleveland Browns. Sure, a win Sunday in Dallas would definitely not hurt and it would put a ton of pressure on the Ravens as well should the lose Sunday at home against the Denver Broncos.

Despite their big win Thursday night the Bengals didn\’t look overly impressive on offense. All off their points came off of turnovers as they didn\’t drive for any score after receiving a punt or a kickoff. Quarterback Any Dalton was a putrid 13-of-27 for 127 yards and was sacked 6 times in the game.

The Bengals may have also lost fullback Chris Pressley for the season to a knee injury.

Yes, the Bengals won a game they should have won and they won it big, but now they will prepare to travel to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers in a winner-take-all type game. If their offense plays like it did Thursday night, you have to like the Steelers chances.

I somewhat agree.. the Bengals win doesnt mean all that much and a loss to Dallas doesnt end the season either, BUT this is the time of year when you need to be clicking on all cylinders, when championship Teams go on a run and dont stop till theyre holding the Lombardi

  • I’d like to win this week and then Steelers can clinch the playoff spot next week by beating the Bungles, if Rat Birds keep losing then Steelers can still win the division also.

This team must begin to understand that lacking focus and coming in unprepared to play is not going to get it done. If they can do that…and get focused we have the talent on this roster to make some noise. In fact, I don’t think there is anyone we can’t beat if we are going on all cylinders, but I don’t think we’ve done that one time all year.

They did against the Giants, though the score was pretty close and NY had the lead going into the 4th Qtr (thanks to a fumble) the Steelers pretty much dominated the game. The Giants had under 200yds of total offense, Redman ran for 147yds, Ben completed over 70% of his passes and we dominated time of possession. I remember thinking, wow we look pretty unstoppable… Man that seems like a lifetime ago.

  • Steelers played phenomenal against the Giants and the refs in that game, 3 HORRIBLE calls against the Steelers that gave the Giants 14 free unearned points from the refs because Roger GODell was there and felt bad for the Hurricane Sandy victims, and the Steelers STILL won that game with everybody in New York against them.

Bengals & Cowboys have each been playin better than the Steelers, they have momentum. Great news the Ravens been unravelling. But Steelers unravelled, From injuries, age, & a few players who have not developed into what their potential was (Hood, Mundy etc).

So for fans to assume the Steelers will beat the Bungles by just showing up, is too cocky.
