Ravens Fire Offensive Coordinator Cam Cameron, Promote QB Coach Jim Caldwell

They are probably dancing in the streets today in Baltimore on Monday as several media outlets are reporting that the Baltimore Ravens have fired offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and replaced him with quarterbacks coach Jim Caldwell.

Cameron has been under heavy criticism for some time now, and especially this year, as it relates to his use of running back Ray Rice, who has 218 carries for 993 yards through the first 13 games.

Caldwell was hired just this past offseason as the quarterbacks coach after previously being the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts.

It is not often that you hear 9-4 teams making changes to their coaching staff this late in the season, but the Ravens are mired in a two game losing streak thanks to losses to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Redskins and they have three tough games remaining against the Denver Broncos, New York Giants and the Cincinnati Bengals.

While it is unlikely that the Ravens will miss the playoffs, it could indeed happen should they lose out.

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

This is absolutely fascinating to me. They knew what they had with Cam going into the season….why this sudden move? Was Caldwell brought on with the intention of taken over?
Serious question: has this ever been done, and if so, has it ever been a successful move for a playoff team this late in the season?

I was still more shocked by the Al Everest firing! But this too is puzzling. Poor Caldwell you go from working with Peyton Manning to joe flacco!

I’m not sure Cam Cameron was the main issue, but I guess someone has to take blame. Obviously Rice needs more carries, but Flacco’s inconsistent play on the road is a huge factor and has been for some time.

I am shocked to the fact that the Steelers had interest in Kirk Cousins in the draft but did not take him, they even made a trip to Michigan state to watch him.

  • Ahmad

Well I’m sure Ravens fans will be happy. He was worse than Arians.

    I too same questions.

Anything that unravels Ravens, we mite need them to continue fading.

  • Mike Carroll

It’s funny, they fired him off a game in which their offense scored 28 points.

Could be each Harbro wants to do something unconventional to prove how great they are as coaches? LOL.
