Report: Keenan Lewis Hurts Knee During Wednesday Practice After Stepping In A Hole

Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Keenan Lewis was listed on the Wednesday injury report as being limited because of the hip injury that re-aggravated Sunday in the loss to the Dallas Cowboys, but it appears that he might have also hurt his knee during the Wednesday practice as well.

Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Wednesday afternoon on Twitter that Lewis injured his knee after stepping in a hole on the practice field. Dulac speculates that the knee injury Lewis suffered could wind up being more problematic than the hip injury he is trying to overcome in order to play Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Lewis had said earlier in the day that he was definitely going to play Sunday, but that talk with the media was prior to practice. Lewis also made it known on Wednesday that he would be the one to follow Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green around on Sunday with Ike Taylor still sidelined with his fractured right ankle.

Thursday now becomes a very interesting day for Lewis as far as the injury report goes. Hopefully he is able to at least work again on a limited basis on Thursday with the aim of working fully on Friday. Cortez Allen is scheduled to return this week after sitting out Sunday with a groin injury, and should Lewis wind up not being able to go, he would be the one to most likely draw Green in coverage with Josh Victorian then being the likely candidate to start opposite him.

Keep your fingers crossed.
