Steelers Injury Report: Adams & Taylor Out; Cornerbacks Allen & Lewis Dealing With Hip Flexors

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin met the media on Tuesday for his weekly press conference to talk about the loss last Sunday to the San Diego Chargers and the upcoming game this week against the Dallas Cowboys.

Tomlin gave an injury report in the early part of the press conference and said left guard Willie Colon (knee) had surgery on his left knee on Monday and will be out for several weeks. He added that they will let a day or two go by before they look at the totality of the situation with him and whether or not they will need to place him on injured reserve.

With Colon out, Tomlin said rookie David DeCastro will prepare to play right guard with Ramon Foster moving over to left guard and that decision was based on the fact that Foster has more position flexibility than DeCastro right now and the fact that Foster has played left guard before.

Tackle Mike Adams (ankle) will still be out this week as will cornerback Ike Taylor (ankle).

Cornerback Cortez Allen (hip) has a hip flexor and he will definitely be limited at the early part of the week and it may put his participation against the Cowboys in question as a result.

Cornerback Keenan Lewis (hip) also has a flip flexor which will slow him down at the early portions of the week, but they expect him to perk up by the end of the week.

Quarterback Byron Leftwich (rib) is back this week and they look to get linebacker LaMarr Woodley (ankle) back on the practice field this week as well.

Safety Troy Polamalu (calf) suffered no setbacks in the game, but did experience some tightness at times. Tomlin said he misspoke after the game calling it an Achilles injury.

Thank you! I dont understand why they didnt put Foster at LG already, as he has played there before. The Cortez Allen injury could be huge.

I hope DeCastro is healthy and ready, I would hate to see a setback because of rushing him back due to other injuries on the OL

Well this answers the question of when will DeCastro start. I wonder if part of that was Tomlin got tired of all the questions about his offensive line, too many games our o line has been offensive.

I sure hope it’s not a sign of things to come for Cortez Allen, as that was his first full time game on the field and he left injured. And he was already injured last year as well.
