Steelers Injury Report: Cortez Allen Remains Sidelined By Groin Injury
The Pittsburgh Steelers were back on the practice field on Thursday as they continued their practice preparations for their upcoming Sunday road game against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Thursday injury report is now out and it shows that cornerback Cortez Allen (groin) failed to practice for a second consecutive day which puts his availability right now for Sunday in serious question. Should Allen not be able to practice on Friday he will undoubtedly be ruled out on the final injury repot of the week. Allen would be replaced in the starting lineup by either Curtis Brown or Josh Victorian should he be forced to miss the game.
There was some good news on Thursday as both cornerback Keenan Lewis (hip) and wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders (shoulder) both practiced fully after sitting out on Wednesday. Lewis suffered a hip flexor injury in the loss to the San Diego Chargers this past Sunday while Sanders reaggravated his shoulder sprain in the game. Both appear to be on track to play against the Cowboys baring setbacks.
Linebacker LaMarr Woodley (ankle) practiced fully again on Thursday as he looks to return Sunday from a two game absence. Woodley is expected to be eased back into action against the Cowboys which means linebacker Jason Worilds will most likely split time with him at the left outside linebacker position.
Safety Troy Polamalu (not injury related) did not work again on Thursday and that was to be expected. Polamalu is expected to receive Wednesday and Thursday practices off for the next several weeks as to not risk him aggravating his calf injury. The Steelers safety is expected to work on Friday just as he did last week.
Linebacker James Harrison (illness) also sat out again on Thursday but should be ready to go come Sunday. Hopefully will be able to return to practice on Friday.
Cornerback Ike Taylor (ankle), tackle Mike Adams (ankle), and guard Willie Colon (knee) have long been ruled out for the Dallas game.
