Steelers Offensive & Defensive Snap Counts: Week 14 Chargers

Below are the initial week 14 non-penalty offensive and defensive snap counts from the Pittsburgh Steelers 34-24 loss Sunday at Heinz Field to the San Diego Chargers.

Wide receiver Plaxico Burress saw the field for 7 snaps in this game and even started as the Steelers opened up with a 4 wide receiver personnel grouping. Running back Chris Rainey saw 21 snaps after playing just 2 snaps last week against the Baltimore Ravens. This was likely because of the huge score deficit in the second half. Wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery returned from his two game injury absence to play 12 snaps. Fullback Will Johnson saw his snaps decrease all the way down to 9 in this game.

Defensively, safety Troy Polamalu played 71 of the 79 defensive snaps and likely would have played the entire game if he had not had problems with his Achilles that sidelined him a little while. The Steelers were in their nickel for approximately 29 plays with Curtis Brown getting 25 plays in that grouping and Josh Victorian getting 4.

We will have the participation reports out later on in the week and see how these match up.
