Steelers Win Over The Ravens Keeps AFC North Up For Grabs For Now

The win Sunday by the Pittsburgh Steelers over the Baltimore Ravens was big in itself, but it also prevented Baltimore from securing a playoff berth in addition.

The Ravens entered the game Sunday only needing a win to secure a spot in the tournament. They also could have wrapped up the AFC North in  addition had they beat the Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals lost to the San Diego Chargers. Of course neither of those two things happened and the Ravens now have a very, very remote risk of not even making the playoffs.

The Raven remaining four games are against the Washington Redskins, Denver Broncos, New York Giants, and the Bengals. Surely they can win one of those four games to ensure they get 10 wins and lock up a playoff spot, but none of those games are slam dunks. Do I think they ultimately get in? Yes, but the Steelers now have a remote shot at not only making the playoffs, but winning the North as well should they win out and the Ravens drop three of their four.

Pipe dream? Perhaps.

It would have been nice to see both the Indianapolis Colts and the Bengals lose on Sunday, but they didn\’t. The two Wild Card spots in the AFC are still very much up in the air with the Colts, Bengals and the Steelers all battling for them.

Right now the Steelers can\’t concern themselves with what the other teams do. That\’s for us fans to do. They took care of business Sunday against the Ravens and must now turn their attention to the Chargers.

Regardless of what the other teams do the next few weeks, the Steelers remain on a collision course with the Bengals in Week 16. That game will most likely decide the last playoff spot. That is what matters the most right now. The rest will take care of itself.

Well, correct in thinking one week at a time, but as a fan I look ahead in regards to the playoff race and the Colts still have to play Houston twice, the Bengals not only have to play us, but they also have to play the Ravens. This playoff race is tight, but we have a legitimate shot at getting one of those spots

I say the Steelers are in the playoffs NOW. They can’t afford to lose another game to ensure that they get into the playoff round or get a better seed. They have to stay ahead of the Bengals, they can move past the Colts, and there is still an outside chance that they can win the division.

  • They can afford a loss as long as they beat the Bungles, they’d of beat the Bungles twice then and own the tie breaker over them.

I think we can most likely lose 2 games and take the 6th spot, as long as we beat Cincinnati. If we win out I think we get the 5 seed. Wishful thinking that the Ravens will lose 3 out of 4

Even pipe dreams come true every one in a while

I don’t care how we get into the playoffs just as long as we don’t have to go back to Denver.

Look for the Ravens to lose 3 of 4

RG3 has the ability to destroy the Ravens if Shanny wants to. And the Manning Bros. in December might just spell D-O-O-M.

I want to go back to Denver and I want to show them that we can beat them there cause we can. but that is just me.

The tie breaker will only help the Steelers if they beat the bengals twice and have the same record. With 4 games left, it is possible for the Steelers to have fewer wins than the bengal, then the tie breaker won’t help.

Dave correct me if i’m wrong but I think the one thing we also have to remember is our record against the AFC is horrible. Thinking even if we finish in a tie with Ratbirds they win tiebreaker due to that.
