The Terrible Podcast – Talking Mike Tomlin Presser, Injuries, Roster & Michael Gehlken Interview Episode

Steelers Podcast

Season 3, Episode 51 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and I talk about the Tuesday press conference given by Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin as well as recap the injuries heading into the game Sunday against the San Diego Chargers. Will Ben Roethlisberger play or won\’t he?

Are the days of Plaxico Burress and Brian Hoyer numbered with Roethlisberger and Jerricho Cotchery seemingly getting back soon? We discuss that as well as the cornerback situation now that Ike Taylor will be sidelined for a little while with his fractured ankle.

David and I discuss the play of the offensive line on Sunday and also look at how good the defense has played over the course of the last several weeks in addition.

In part two of the podcast is my interview with Michael Gehlken, who covers the Chargers for the San Diego Union-Tribune. We discuss the Chargers injury situation heading into this game, and more specifically, how they plan to repair their offensive line that was decimated by injuries last week. We talk about both sides of the ball as it relates to the Chargers and how Danario Alexander has really emerged as a receiving threat for quarterback Philip Rivers over the course of the last several weeks. Is Ryan Matthews the real deal? I get the thoughts of Michael on him before shifting over to talk about the Chargers defense.

Before getting his prediction for the game I ask Michael if he thinks Bill Cowher could wind up being a candidate for the Chargers should they indeed clean house after the season.

I actually hope they hang onto Hoyer a little while longer and give him shot to make the Team with a full offseason and training camp, who knows, I sure as h e l l dont want Leftwich to be re-signed this offseason

  • Douglas Andrews

Couldnt agree with you more. I would cut leftwich now he has show time and time again he can’t stay healthy when his number is called think back to Ben R suspension an the first Ravens game. I like Byron but I would like to see someone reliable as a backup, and I think Hoyer can be the guy.

I agree, releasing Leftwich would open up a roster spot, he has shown that he is unreliable as a backup, in retrospect to ol reliable Charlie Batch
