Ryan Clark Now Rooting For The 49ers To Win The Super Bowl Over The Ravens?

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark was a guest Monday on the ESPN NFL Live set to talk about the upcoming Super Bowl between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers. During his short interview Clark was asked by host Trey Wingo if it is tough on him that the Steelers rival is playing for the championship instead of his own team.

“I mean its different obviously,” Clark said. “We are not two teams that root for one another, but when you look at what the Ravens did, as a football fan, you enjoy it – Ray Lewis coming back and re-energizing the team and winning extremely big games. It\’s been the big debate in Pittsburgh. Do we want the 49ers to have six titles or do you want to deal with the Baltimore Ravens for a year?”

Wingo then asked Clark what the answer is to that question.

“There\’s no doubt,” Clark said. “Let the 49ers have six and we\’ll try to win seven next year.”

This seems to be an about face by Clark, who has openly shown his support for the Ravens and Lewis via his Twitter account before unexpectedly deleting it on Sunday. Because of that support, Clark has faced a ton of criticism from the Steeler fan base, most of which think that Clark in no way should be rooting for the Ravens no matter who he is friends with.

As far as the rest of the interview, Clark was not asked about his sudden disappearance from Twitter and he only added some thoughts on the safety aspect of the game. His wife Yonka Clark, however, said on Sunday via her Twitter account that her husband had deleted his account in order to focus more on his rehab and offseason training.

Clark is down in New Orleans this week making the media rounds because he lives just outside the city in Marrero, LA.
