Steelers Sign WR Kashif Moore To A Reserve/Future Contract

The Pittsburgh Steelers added another player to their offseason roster on Monday as it was announced that wide receiver Kashif Moore has been signed to a reserve/future contract for the 2013 season.

Moore was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cincinnati Bengals out of University of Connecticut following the 2012 draft. The Bengals, however, released him after training camp and just prior to the start of the 2012 season. Moore then spent parts of the 2012 regular season on the practice squads of the Houston Texans, San Diego Chargers and Indianapolis Colts.

Moore, who played in 50 of possible 51 games over his four seasons (2008-11) at Connecticut, with 32 starts, totaled 126 catches, 1699 receiving yards (13.5 average) and 13 receiving touchdowns. He measured in at the NFL combine last February at 5091 and 180 pounds and clocked a 4.42 time in the 40-yard dash, and recorded a 43.5-inch vertical leap.

Below are some video highlights of Moore along with his combine numbers.

Yaay another undersized speedy WR…. strange logic to have soo many WR’s with the same physical attributes and skill set

  • Richard Edlin

Given the small number of WRs the Steelers have/will probably have come March, will a reserve/future WR have a real shot at making the ’53?

  • Kevin Gobleck

aren’t Brown and Sanders both 5’9 5’10 ish too?

  • Kevin Gobleck

maybe since there all alike when there on the field together defensive backs may not know who there supposed to cover causing miss matches? eh crazy logic for a crazy coach.

No not really, Gilreath would be the guy I think makes the 53man roster because of his return capabilities, was very productive in college (Depth Chart might look like Brown, Sanders, draft pick, Cotchery, Gilreath) but I guess Moore could replace the likes of Bert Reed on the practice squad

  • steeltown

Gilreath is 5’9, Brown is 5’10 and Sanders is around 5’11, yea, too many undersized guys in my opinion

  • Jon Crissinger

Maybe convert him to running back? Add about 20 lbs and he has speed and looks tough with the ball in his hands. Much better size for RB than WR.

  • Clint Martin

    Colbert signed him Einstein.

Competition a probably for kick , punt returns and to keep Sanders from feeling like his roster spot is safe.

  • Clint Martin

He might be able to compete for a spot Gilreath is not a lock.Or maybe just a body to throw to.

  • maybe they think it will save Ben’s arm if he is throwing down hill.

  • Kevin Gobleck

Just joking, no need for harsh language haha
