Former Steelers & Ravens QB Dennis Dixon Signs Two Year Contract With Eagles

It has long been rumored that the Philadelphia Eagles would sign former Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Dennis Dixon as soon as Chip Kelly was announced as their new head coach, and on Thursday it finally happened as Dixon agreed to a two-year contract.

Dixon spent most of the 2012 season on the Ravens practice squad after spending four seasons with the Steelers were he started two games in 2010 and one in 2009.

During his career, Dixon has completed 35-of-49 passes for 402 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions, while rushing for 56 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.

Dixon is now reunited with Kelly, who was his offensive coordinator at Oregon in 2007. Before tearing his ACL late that season, Dixon completed 67.7 percent of his passes for 20 touchdowns and four interceptions, and rushed for 583 yards.

The match is one that we all knew was coming but nothing is guaranteed at this point for Dixon, who now figures to be behind Michael Vick on the Eagles quarterback depth chart. The biggest problem that Dixon will have is throwing the football with a degree of success and reading defenses.

Dixon is now 28 years of age and very lucky to get one final shot at the NFL. The Eagles don\’t have much invested in him and can cut him loose at any time should things not go well.
