Steelers Restructure Contract of QB Ben Roethlisberger To Clear $6 Million In Cap Space

As expected, the Pittsburgh Steelers restructured the contract of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on Thursday and the result of that now puts them under the estimated $123 million cap number.

Roethlisberger is believed to have had $9 million of his $11.6 million base salary turned into a signing bonus via the restructure which would clear $6 million in cap space for 2013.

Roethlisberger\’s 2013 cap charge should now be $13,595,000 after the restructure. His 2014 and 2015 cap charges should be $18,895,000 and $18,395,000 respectively.

In the last three days the Steelers have now cleared over $14 million in cap space via the restructures of Roethlisberger, wide receiver Antonio Brown and linebacker Lawrence Timmons. They are also expected to restructure the contract of LaMarr Woodley, according to several reports. If indeed the Woodley restructure happens it would clear around $6 million more in cap space.

I would think this puts us approx $1.8MIL over cap? Maybe im wrong, so many figures, im getting confused

But, add the $4.7MIL for the rookie draft class and me sees Woodley restructure and Harrison & Colon cuts coming

    2 Things:

First @ Steeltown Off Which cap number are you getting that 1.8 from? I know there has been a lot of varying info concerning the cap number . If it is the 123 Mil number that is being reported, this might mean we are cap compliant.

second Florio is reporting Bens restructure only cleared 3 mil in cap space. So any clarification on this would be appreciated.

I’m thinking my figure includes the $5MIL needed to to tender the restricted players.. I’m not sure Bryan is including that in his post

I got it. I was adding the restricted tender amounts which would equal that cap number of $1.8MIL
