Former Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw Confirms Steelers Interest In Him But Will Wait To Make Visit

Former New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw confirmed recently in a radio interview that he has heard that the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets and Green Bay Packers have expressed interest in him, but that he was going to wait to make free agent visits until he is fully recovered from the foot surgery that he had back in January.

“I\’ve decided not to work out with teams yet,” Bradshaw said. “I want to be as healthy as I can be, I want to be explosive, and I want teams to see what they are able to get. Right now, I\’m working on that, and I think it\’s coming along faster and faster. I\’m walking around without the boot.”

Despite not being ready to make visits just yet, Bradshaw believes he can help the three aforementioned ones.

“There are a lot of teams out there, but there are a couple teams that are interested, so I\’ve heard,” Bradshaw said on ESPN Radio\’s The Michael Kay Show today, via a Thursday report in The Star-Ledger. “Pittsburgh, the Jets and the Packers, which are teams that I feel like need a running back, that I could help. Like I said, it’s a process. I just want to take it slow.”

The Steelers are still potentially looking to add another running back or two to the roster prior to the NFL draft, but they do not have much in the way of salary cap space to work with. If they were to sign Bradshaw they would more than likely want him to be fully recovered from his latest surgery before doing so. According to the recent comments made by Bradshaw, it might be a little while longer before he is ready to prove that.

As it stands right now, Jonathan Dwyer, Isaac Redman and Baron Batch are the only running backs that are either under contract with the Steelers or tendered by them. Dwyer has already signed his restricted tender, and we assume that Batch has already signed his exclusive rights tender, being as he has no choice but to do so.

The Steelers will almost certainly draft a running back in the upcoming draft and general manager Kevin Colbert said this past week at the annual owners meetings that were held in Arizona that it is possible that a few more free agents from every position could wind up being signed.

Bradshaw spent the last six seasons with the Giants, where he rushed for 4,232 regular season yards on 921 carries and 32 touchdowns.
