Free Agent LB Victor Butler To Visit With Browns On Monday

I know a few of you have been closely watching the city-by-city tour of Dallas Cowboys free agent linebacker Victor Butler, who the Pittsburgh Steelers had in for a visit since the free agency signing period got underway.

Butler wrapped up his two-day visit with the New Orleans Saints on Friday and left without a contract, according to Larry Holder of The Times-Picayune. Butler seemed like an obvious fit for the Saints due to them switching to a 3-4 this upcoming season under new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, who coached Butler with the Cowboys last season.

According to Holder, Butler will be visiting with the Cleveland Browns on Monday, who are also switching to a 3-4 this season under new defensive coordinator Ray Horton.

As it looks like right now, all the teams that have hosted Butler for a visit thus far want him as a backup and not a starter. This is especially true for the Steelers, who intend to have Jason Worilds take over at right outside linebacker now that James Harrison has been jettisoned.

Butler will eventually sign somewhere, with money likely playing a huge factor in his ultimate decision. While the soon-to-be 26-year-old would look good in the black and gold, it just doesn\’t look like that is going to happen.
