Free Agent LB Victor Butler To Visit With Browns On Monday

I know a few of you have been closely watching the city-by-city tour of Dallas Cowboys free agent linebacker Victor Butler, who the Pittsburgh Steelers had in for a visit since the free agency signing period got underway.

Butler wrapped up his two-day visit with the New Orleans Saints on Friday and left without a contract, according to Larry Holder of The Times-Picayune. Butler seemed like an obvious fit for the Saints due to them switching to a 3-4 this upcoming season under new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, who coached Butler with the Cowboys last season.

According to Holder, Butler will be visiting with the Cleveland Browns on Monday, who are also switching to a 3-4 this season under new defensive coordinator Ray Horton.

As it looks like right now, all the teams that have hosted Butler for a visit thus far want him as a backup and not a starter. This is especially true for the Steelers, who intend to have Jason Worilds take over at right outside linebacker now that James Harrison has been jettisoned.

Butler will eventually sign somewhere, with money likely playing a huge factor in his ultimate decision. While the soon-to-be 26-year-old would look good in the black and gold, it just doesn\’t look like that is going to happen.

    Can he play Inside?

  • Maurice_hill_district

He doesnt play for the Steelers. & he wasnt going to, because Steelers dont have cap room. So who cares where he interviews?

Last I looked, Browns are in the division. If you don’t like the post, don’t read them. Pretty simple. Understood?

I really like this kid. But He wants to be a starter and make starter money. I think he could be for us but not sure he wants to fight really hard for it.

Sorry didnt know it’s Browns Depot. đŸ™‚

it seems like now that james harrison has been in the free agent market without much interest i’m wondering if he would take a league minimum offer to finish his career here
i believe he has another good year in him

  • He is one of best under the radar free agents according to Matt Williamson. And that was before the free agency even started. Possibly signing with a division rival interests Steelers fans without tunnel vision.

Nothing against dave bryan..I come to stedlers depot alot, is it me or is everything out of this guys mouth doom and gloom…I have yet to read him say one positive thing this whole off season. Just a observation thats

There are many other free agents, & this one of those players meeting with plenty of teams doesnt mean he’s signing with the Browns. So the only Browns in that is what’s clumped on end of your nose. You put down Steeler fans because they are more interested in the Steelers, but maybe many Steeler fans focus on Steelers because Steelers were 8-8, so Steelers need to get their own house in order.
