Report: Former Steelers WR Mike Wallace Turned Down More Money From Vikings

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace signed a 5-year, $60 million contract with the Miami Dolphins that included $27 million guaranteed at the start of the free agency signing period, but apparently he left some money on the table.

According to Adam Beasely of the Miami Herald, the Minnesota Vikings offered him more money.

Wallace\’s dad, Mike Jr., said “The [Vikings] had come to the point where they were telling him, ‘You don\’t have to live here, just be here during the season.\’ He wanted to get out of that snow and cold weather.”

The St. Louis Rams and the Seattle Seahawks were also reportedly interested in Wallace as well, but there is no word as to how much they were willing to pay the Mississippi product.

It is not surprising that the Vikings were interested in Wallace as they had traded wide receiver Percy Harvin to Seahawks just before the start of free agency. They ultimately had to settle for signing former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings.

Keep in mind that the state of Florida doesn\’t have a state income tax, so that, along with the beach and sunshine, may have helped influence Wallace\’s decision. Besides, what\’s there to do in Minnesota anyway? I am sure being close to South Beach was worth leaving a few dollars on the table.

I was born in Pittsburgh, but moved to Miami as a kid. It was ok in the 70s but its now become a cesspool of drugs, crime and illegal immigrants. Everyone is trying to rip you off. Besides its hot as hell even in October and way too crowded. There is nothing nice about Miami anymore. Definitely paradise lost. Just sayin…

Pittsburgh is a far nicer town to live in and raise a family…not Miami.

ehh i’m glad he’ll do better down there with Tannehill vs Ponder which means we get a better comp pick!

Listen if Mike Wallace makes major life decisions base on wind chill factor, I don’t want him on our team anyway.

It was in the late 70’s also cocaine cowboy’s cuban castoff’s, etc etc etc….

Yea I remember. The far majority of Cubans from the first wave in the 60s are good people. Most of the Marielitos have been put back in prison. Now its mostly Nicaraguan/Mexican/Haitian/Jamaican illegals flooding the county and receiving benefits and having anchor babies. I think all Haitians are legal to come and go because of the earthquakes. It just doesnt seem like America anymore. Its a constant traffic jam on the roadways.

I told you he liked Miami. Anyone who follows Wallace on Twitter could have predicted where he’d land. The characterization of the conversation with the Vikings is pretty funny though.

    Mike Wallace. Shit for brains

  • mokhkw

Why are we drafting players like Wallace ( doesn’t like cold weather) and Lewis( also turned down a bigger offer to go home) when all they want to do is leave?

  • mokhkw

Wonder how they’re going to feel whenever it’s a cold weather game & Wallace does nothing? $13mil well spent?

^ More silicone than Dow Corning.

I just wanted to add that Im sure most of the Nicaraguan/Haitian/Mexican/Jamaican illegals are also good people but they are breaking Americas immigration laws and getting away with it..
