Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and offensive coordinator Todd Haley have been spotted at the Tennessee pro day on Wednesday. Adam Schefter of ESPN also reports on Twitter that the Steelers braintrust had dinner with Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray before attending his pro day.
Is there anything to get excited about here? Not really. Last year the Steelers had dinner with Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins prior to his pro day, but didn\'t draft him, or any other quarterback for that matter, last April.
The Steelers very well could be meeting with Bray to ask him about tight end Mychal Rivera, wide receivers Justin Hunter and Cordarrelle Patterson, and offensive lineman Dallas Thomas.
The Steelers signed free agent quarterback Bruce Gradkowski last week to presumably back up starter Ben Roethlisberger. General manager Kevin Colbert has also said recently that the team has not closed the door on the possibility of veteran Charlie Batch returning for one more season.
Bray is a strong-armed quarterback who left Tennessee with a year of eligibility remaining. He has accuracy issues and needs to grow up quite a bit in addition. There have been several that have questioned his work ethic and his decision to not stay in school another year.
