Report: Steelers Bringing In Bengals Free Agent QB Bruce Gradkowski For Visit

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports via Twitter on Tuesday that Cincinnati Bengals free agent quarterback Bruce Gradkowski is scheduled to visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday.

The Steelers appear to be ready to move on from either Byron Leftwich or Charlie Batch, both unrestricted free agents, this off-season. Batch reiterated recently that he hopes to return in 2013, but his signing is far from imminent right now.

Gradkowski, 30, has spent the last two seasons in Cincinnati as the backup to Andy Dalton. He was 13-of-29 passing for 174 yards in those two seasons in limited action.

Over the course of his career, Gradkowski has a 52.9% completion ratio and a 5.7 yards per attempt number. He has started just 20 games in 7 seasons.

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

I for one remember him beating the Steelers in Pittsburgh when he was a Raider

Pittsburgh kid, maybe he can bring his brother from the Ravens and keep the losses mounting down there

Not sure about this one.. it must be because he was born in Pittsburgh, ha!

He’s thrown more TDs than INTs in a given season only once in his 7yr career…would much rather re-sign C.Batch

I think he beat us when he was with Oakland and that was the game that kept us out of the playoffs. He is tough and scrappy but by no means a starter in the League. It would be interesting to see them kick the tires on Fitz too. At this point we just need back ups that do not trip over their own feet in the end zone and get injured untouched.

I was about to say exactly the same thing.

I’m just glad were moving on from the Leftwich backup….poor guy should just retire before he breaks something else.

I agree, he is a tough kid.. and we do need some younger blood, but there is one thing that a backup QB must do and that is protect the football. Gradkowski fumbles alot and as I mentioned, he’s thrown more INT’s than TD’s…. I guess we could do worse (Leftwich) …but im still hoping we draft a mid-late Rd QB

    Me too…

    No.

I’d like a kid like Colby Cameron from Louisiana Tech, doesnt have a huge arm but good rythm passer and has good accuracy. When named the starter his senior year he played really well (31TD’s only 5INT’s over 4,000yds passing) set the NCAA record for most consecutive pass attempts in a single season without an interception, ha! Thats what I want in a backup! He wont be highly sought after due to his so called normal size and lack of arm strength.. could be had in the 6th or 7th Rd, maybe even undrafted… I think he’d fit in a Haley type Offense

This guy has been a good back-up against the Steelers. not a starter but not a fragile leftwich either..get him cheap and sign him.

Almost anyone is better than Batch or Leftwich. I’ll be glad if neither is brought back. Batch as a coach might be good.

Somebody smart and durable. He could fill the bill.
