Report: Steelers Free Agent RB Rashard Mendenhall Likely To Sign With Broncos

Earlier in the day it was reported that Pittsburgh Steelers unrestricted free agent running back Rashard Mendenhall has visits scheduled with the Denver Broncos and the Arizona Cardinals. Pro Football Talk is now reporting that Mendenhall is likely to sign with the Broncos.

The Broncos are possibly looking to move on from running backs Willis McGahee and Knowshon Moreno, and Mendenhall would appear to be a fit for their offensive scheme led by quarterback Peyton Manning.

Mendenhall, who was suspended late last season by the Steelers for one game for conduct detrimental to team, was hampered by an Achilles injury when he had finally recovered from the torn ACL that he suffered in the 2011 regular season finale against the Cleveland Browns. His two fumbles against the Browns in Week 12 led to him being demoted and he finished the season with just 51 carries for 182 yards in the 6 games that he dressed for.
