Report: Steelers Free Agent RB Rashard Mendenhall Likely To Sign With Broncos

Earlier in the day it was reported that Pittsburgh Steelers unrestricted free agent running back Rashard Mendenhall has visits scheduled with the Denver Broncos and the Arizona Cardinals. Pro Football Talk is now reporting that Mendenhall is likely to sign with the Broncos.

The Broncos are possibly looking to move on from running backs Willis McGahee and Knowshon Moreno, and Mendenhall would appear to be a fit for their offensive scheme led by quarterback Peyton Manning.

Mendenhall, who was suspended late last season by the Steelers for one game for conduct detrimental to team, was hampered by an Achilles injury when he had finally recovered from the torn ACL that he suffered in the 2011 regular season finale against the Cleveland Browns. His two fumbles against the Browns in Week 12 led to him being demoted and he finished the season with just 51 carries for 182 yards in the 6 games that he dressed for.

Hopefully they do move on from Moreno and McGahee..Bring on the comp picks!

Maybe because it’s easier to spin around in that thin air. 🙂

  • Addison

Hopefully the balls are easier to hold onto in Denver

Right on, many snaps for him there please.

I hear that he’s been asked to audition for Dancing with the Stars….as a tap dancer.

I’m glad to see he will be signed by another team, now we know there’s no chance Pittsburgh brings him back. He might be too sensitive to play with Manning, to me it seemed like the more he was criticized by players and coaches about his bad play and fumbles the worse he did. Manning is the type of player who will really get on him about his bad play.

A part time tap dancer at that since he shows up only when HE wants to which isn’t often…

Hope the Broncos fans love the suspense of waiting…and waiting….and waiting….for a RB who can’t seem to EVER find the hole and who falls to the turf the minute he hears footsteps. Who knows, Mile High might just sell a lot more coffee what with the fans trying to stay awake from sheer boredom at their “new” running game. HA!

  • good riddance, mendenspin. enjoy the constant barking of manning. i wonder, how you will respond?

  • You can berate this man until the cows come home he was still the best runner we have had since Willie Parker, never would have made it to the Super Bowl in 2010 without him, and his fumbles were over blown average 1 fumble in over 125 carrys in his career. Had we addressed the pathetic offensive line play (Wonder Ben is still in one piece) we had a present and future runner in Mendenhall, hell of a lot better than what we have left, no doubt!

The report is that Bush signed with Detroit. Arizona was interested in both Bush and Mendenhall. Now, this may mean that a bidding war could ensue between Denver and Arizona for Mendnehall’s services.
