Report: Steelers G Ramon Foster Contract Totals Out At $6 Million

The contract numbers for the new three-year contract that Pittsburgh Steelers guard Ramon Foster signed on Monday are in and the deal reportedly totals out $6 million and includes a $900,000 signing bonus, according to Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review  on Twitter.

The base salaries for Foster are $1.1 million, $2 million and $2 million in 2013, 2014 and 2015 respectively. This would put Foster\’s 2013 salary cap number at $1.4 million.

It is a great deal for the Steelers as that cap charge is only slightly higher than what a low restricted tender is this offseason.

Foster started all 16 games for the Steelers in 2013 and can play both guard spots as well as right tackle.

Sounds good to me. We should give McLendon the same contract.

  • Very cap friendly deal. Would prefer Foster be a backup, but if he starts it’s okay. Although, a left side of Gilbert and Foster scares me especially in a zone blocking scheme. One guy I like in the draft with position flexibility and movement/size is Kyle Long. May need to draft a back at that point though.

Glad he’s back at a reasonable price.

Wow.. whata deal.. we basically pay Colon ‘per season’ what we’re paying Foster for the next 3yrs of service, great signing

This guy obviously wanted to stay in Pittsburgh

Shows what the rest of league thinks of Foster

  • Christopher Wilkes

Awesome! Why hasn’t Colon been given the boot yet?

  • CrRe

The more I think about W. Colon and his whopping 12 games played in 3 season it makes me sick! That sucker should take a pay cut and play for league minimum solely for the fact that he has not been worth hardly any of the money we signed him to a few years back.

  • zyzak

They can play him this year and cut him after. Can’t lose deal

  • zyzak

Colon has been released Foote to get 2 years to resign.

Foster has essentially been given back-up $s, meaning one of 2 things:

    1. Colon stays & they ask him to re-do his deal with one last chance to prove he can stay healthy.

    2. They draft an OG in the early rounds of the draft & cut Colon.

We’ll have to wait until after the Draft to see how this plays out. This is a fantastic signing for the $s – a guy who can back up G & T for the next 4 years. Bargain.

  • LucasY59

Yeah they have paid him enough to do almost nothing for 3 years (at the very least the 2 years where he only played part of 1 game) that he owes them a free year

  • LucasY59

It won’t save any $ until after June 1st
