Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting on Twitter that the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers have both expressed interest in former New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw.
Bradshaw, who was released by the Giants in early February, reportedly received clearance recently to begin making free agent visits as he continues to recover from January foot surgery. That surgery consisted of Bradshaw having a smaller screw in his right foot replaced with a larger one and it was the third surgery on his right foot. Â In addition to his right foot problems, Bradshaw has also had a left foot operation and surgeries on both ankles since coming into the league. If that wasn\’t enough, he has also had neck issues.
In the last two seasons, the soon-to-be 27 year-old running back has played in 26 games and rushed for 1,674 yards on 392 carries and 15 touchdowns. He also chipped in 57 catches for 512 yards and 2 touchdowns during those same two years.
While the Steelers might indeed have interest in Bradshaw, it would be hard to believe that they would sign him for more than the minimum considering that he has so many medical red flags. The Steelers lost Rashard Mendenhall this past week to the Arizona Cardinals in free agency and appear set to address the running back position in the draft at some point.
The Steelers also tendered free agent running backs Jonathan Dwyer, Isaac Redman and Baron Batch prior to the start of the free agent signing period.
