Report: Steelers RB Jonathan Dwyer Waste No Time Signing His Restricted Tender

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jonathan Dwyer is not taking any chances in free agency as the former sixth-round draft pick out of Georgia Tech has already signed his $1.323 million one-year restricted tender given to him over the weekend, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN on Twitter.

Dwyer was one of four soon-to-be restricted free agents that were issued tenders, with running back Isaac Redman, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and nose tackle Steve McLendon being the other three.

Normally restricted free agents will wait a few weeks to sign their tender offers just in case they get interest from other teams during the free agency signing period, but Dwyer, as Schefter reports, didn\’t want to wait and wanted to prove a point that he is dedicated to becoming the Steelers number one running back next season.

Dwyer led the Steelers in rushing last season with 623 yards on 156 carries. He had two back-to-back 100 yard games in the middle of the season and scored 2 rushing touchdowns.

Dwyer, who recently became a father for the first time, has reportedly already started his off-season conditioning program.
