Steelers Scouts Spend Time Thursday With Safeties At Nebraska Pro Day

It\’s not earth shaking news by any means, but I wanted to pass along the Twitter report by Grant Muessel of Huskers Illustrated Magazine that stated the Pittsburgh Steelers had scouts at the Nebraska pro day on Thursday.

Muessel reported that the Steelers scouts were there to see the defensive backs and that they spent a good amount of time drilling and talking with safeties Daimion Stafford and P.J. Smith.

Stafford, a free safety that measured in at 5118, 221 at the NFL combine, improved his 40 time by running a 4.5. While Stafford apparently showed well on Thursday, Smith, a 6015, 210 strong safety did not.

“It wasn’t a good day today, but I will bounce back, said Smith, per a report in the Lincoln Journal Star. “I was overthinking a lot of things. It just wasn’t my day.”

Both Stafford and Smith are late round prospects that could possibly go undrafted. Stafford is ranked the higher of the two.

In the highlights below, Stafford is No. 3 and Smith is No. 13
