The Terrible Podcast – Talking NFL Rules Changes, Ed Reed To Texans, O-Line, Pro Days & More Episode

Steelers Podcast

Season 3, Episode 86 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and I talk about Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed leaving for the Houston Texans for starters and then get into talking about the new rule changes that were passed on Wednesday at the NFL owners meetings.

We move on to talk about the Pittsburgh Steelers depth on the Steelers offensive line as we move closer to the draft and David throws out an interesting draft day trade question that he wants your opinion on as well. The Steelers had a large contingency at the Tennessee pro day on Wednesday, so we talk about the prospects that they were there to see. This includes us talking about quarterback Tyler Bray in addition to the big name wide receivers.

We talk about the “big-ass chip” that Willie Colon claims that he has on his shoulder following his release from the Steelers and discuss the soft free agent market this offseason as well. As always, several other Steelers talking points are mixed in and we tell you who we both like to win it all in the NCAA tournament that gets underway today.

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

I would NOT trade 2nd’s and lose a 4th to draft Eddie Lacy. If I was to trade up in the 2nd it would be for a Safety or ILB/OLB, or a WR. I would go after Zac Stacy in the later rounds. He’s used to playing behind a bad line and has been very productive doing it. Zac is a bulldozer and can move the pile and has some speed. I would try and use his size as an advantage. Try and find a 5’8″ guy behind a bunch of big OL.

Dont trade up,Move back and pickup more picks.

If Xavier Rhodes falls I’d love him. Xavier would also play Safety. Also like Jonathan Banks as a Safety.

Never buy, unless it’s 100%. You rather sell, unless someone falls to you, therefore you you draft at that spot. A team in need of more players should look to manipulate the draft in it’s favor, or take what is giving. Steelers are in a good position to work the draft in its favor, but the first pick is critically important in doing that. The first pick will dictate what direction their draft will go in defense, or offense. I would move back a couple of spots and take someone like WR D. Hopskins that I could get a position of need filled and pick up an extra pick for depth, or movement to pick another position of need. Then hope positions like TE (Z. Ertz), LB (M. Teo, K. Greene), FS (E. Reid), WR (Q. Patton), or maybe CB, DT, G, T will fall in my favor. Either way, I just set the draft to open up all my other needs (TE, RB, LB, S, and depth). Wether I need to move up, drop down, or stay put to get them.

I’m not for trading up at all. The question was, would you trade up and loose a 4th too for Eddie Lacy? I’m for trading back and getting more picks.

Not trading up, for lacey or a RB period in this draft. Too much depth at that position
