Unknown New York State Reporter Claims Former Bears LB Brian Urlacher Will Meet With Steelers

In one of the craziest reports of the week, Bobby Brooks of WETM 18 in Elmira, New York, reported Thursday via Twitter that sources close to former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher claim that the future Hall of Famer will meet with Pittsburgh Steelers to discuss possible contract negotiations.

Brooks, who has all of 27 followers and 57 tweets, appears to be a real person and not a clothing line for young woman that John Cougar Mellencamp sang about in the 1980\’s song, “Jack and Dianne.” According to Brooks\’ bio page, he is a graduate of Penn State that roots for all teams donning the black and gold. How appropriate.

I think you see where I am going with this.

Urlacher will be 35 years of age in May and said this past week that he turned down a one-year contract for $2 million to remain with the Bears, the team that selected him in the first round of the 2000 NFL draft.

Urlacher has also never played in a 3-4 defense.

Perhaps Brooks missed the release of soon-to-be 35 year-old linebacker James Harrison a few weeks ago and doesn\’t know that the Steelers also re-signed Larry Foote. Maybe he doesn\’t follow teams wearing the black and gold as much as he claims to.

As you can imagine, some Steelers fans are running with this news as if it were fact, and for what reason, I do not know.

Just as Mellancamp sang several years ago, “Oh yeah, life goes on.”

Here\’s to your credibility and 80\’s music, Bobby.

    Oh god…

Yeah, when I read the headline I thought, OK, he’s played middle LB in a 4-3. Why would he even be interested in the Steelers? Thanks. That gave me a laugh.

Dave, I can’t believe I didn’t connect his name to the song until you mentioned it. I have to give you your propers.

You think Polo has been injured a lot. Urlacher I believed wanted a lil over 5M not sure we could afford him nor do I really care if we could.

    Why even report this?

pro football focus said he was one of the worst run defending linebackers in the league last year. His tackling efficiency was 29th out of 35 of his peers

Nice JCM reference Dave! There will be no Urlacher in black n gold!

There hasn’t been enough happening for news about Steelers, but yeah sad to notice here had resorted to being National Inquirer. A soon article will here refute that rumor (even tho original sources of these rumors were desperate writers nationwide who had no actual source of their rumor anyway) & that next article will explain why Urlacher wont be a Steeler. You too figured out that pattern of articles here. I cant blame anyone, gotta keep hits coming to a website because quantity of hits here is $; number of clicks to a website which has ads, is the salespitch to potential advertisers. I hope that truth doesn’t hurt anyone’s feelings.

Look forward to right-after the draft because that’s when there will be real news.

While this report is laughable at best, I can understand the 1% of interest the steelers have in him if that’s the case…

We won’t have sean spence to play first game for upcoming season and he was designated to become our nickel lb. If remotely at right price I can see why…

However i’d rather not and just go with McFadden or other UDFA signee that we will get after draft. That being said I don’t see us going to draft a mike lb in draft. Also it’d be delaying the inevitable.
