2013 Draft

Penn State LB Michael Mauti To Visit Steelers This Week

Former Penn State linebacker Michael Mauti was a guest Saturday on 93.7 The Fan and during his interview, he said that he would be having a pre draft visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers sometime this week.

Mauti, who tore the ACL in his left knee last season, said his rehab is currently ahead of schedule, and also made it known once again that Dr. James Bradley, the Steelers team physician and surgeon, is the one that performed the surgery on him late last year.

Mauti, who wrote a hand-written letter to all 32 teams prior to the combine, was asked during the interview how he thought that he would look in a Steelers uniform next season.

“I think I would look great in a Pittsburgh Steelers uniform,” said a laughing Mauti. “Why don\’t you call and tell them to come get me?”

If indeed the Steelers think that Mauti can overcome his third serious knee injury in the last five years, he would be a bargain in the fifth or sixth round later this month. The Steelers would not have to rush him back now that they have re-signed Larry Foote to start at the BUCK position, and they could even place him on the PUP list to start the season.

Mauti, the unquestionable team leader of the Nittany Lions, claims that he will play in 2013. He has a superb character and really would look good in the black and gold if he can fully recover.
