2013 Draft

Steelers Bring Georgia LB Jarvis Jones In For Pre Draft Visit

Another draft hopeful is visiting with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday as Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones is at the Southside.

Jones, has long been linked to the Steelers as a potential first round target. He had 28 sacks and 155 total tackles in his last 26 games played in at Georgia.

Jones suffered a neck injury while initially at USC and was later diagnosed with spinal stenosis, which is a narrowing of the neck canal.  USC doctors would not clear him to play, so he transferred to Georgia. He then underwent several tests in Athens, Georgia before being cleared to play for the Bulldogs in June of 2010.  After being tested extensively at the combine, there are differing medical opinions on Jones\’ condition as it pertains to long-term durability in the NFL.

The Steelers are expected to draft an outside linebacker at some point during the April draft. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was present at the Georgia pro day a few weeks ago, where Jones reportedly had a rough showing.
