Steelers Bring In Connecticut LB Sio Moore For A Pre Draft Visit

Tony Pauline reports Thursday via Twitter that Connecticut linebacker Sio Moore is having a pre draft visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Moore measured in at the combine at 6006, 245 pounds and had a great showing. He posted a 4.65 in the 40-yard dash, 1.61 10-yard dash, 2.59 20-yard dash, 4.31 20-yard shuttle, 7.49 three-cone drill, 38-inch vertical jump, 10’7” broad jump and bench pressed 225 pounds 29 times.

Moore played all over the place at Connecticut and could possibly play both inside or outside linebacker in the Steelers 3-4 defense. If he plays outside, he will have to work on his ability to set the edge against the run. If he plays inside, he will need to work on his recognition. He uses his long arms well wherever he lines up and moves well in space. He is hard player to project a spot for being as he lined up everywhere in college, including the slot.

In 37 games, Moore recorded 16 sacks, 268 total tackles, 18 pass breakups, 4 forced fumbles and 4 interceptions. He also was credited with 43 tackles for loss.

Moore is projected to go as high as the second round and as low as the early fourth.

Very interesting prospect.. again with the game becoming pass happy, quick LB’s that move well in space are becoming a must, yet another 3rd Rd prospect with big upside

This guy sounds like he may be a monster in the right system wonder why he’s not projected to go early to mid first rd

  • JohnnyV1

Sio Moore and his teammate both seem to be solid prospects.

I have to say again, I am pleased with the Steelers pre-draft visits thus far

My thoughts exactly can’t wait for draft should be an interesting 3days and I believe the front office is doing their homework

taking that 3rd round pick for sanders is looking pretty nice.

A lot of people have him “under-graded” in my opinion. I think he’s very comparable to Arthur Brown. Size, speed, and skill set. If he played in the SEC he’d be a late first rounder. If we want him we’ll need to snatch him at 2.17.

  • Jeff Johnson

he’s projected to be drafted in the 2nd round

Depends on which draft site you look at. Like Dave Brian wrote above. any wheres from round s 2-4. On some sites Sio is listed ahead of K. Greene and J. Collins and other site have Sio ranked higher than the two others mentioned. I would be happy with any one of the 3.
