Report: Interest In Steelers Free Agent Offensive Lineman Doug Legursky Picking Up

I posted about free agent offensive lineman Doug Legursky on Thursday and it just so happens that he is in the news on Friday as Bo Marchionte of college2pro.com is reporting that interest in Legursky is starting to pick up now that teams are starting to wrap up their OTA sessions.

According to Marchionte, Legursky\’s agent David Rich claims the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills have all expressed interest in the Pittsburgh Steelers free agent undrafted offensive lineman and that a visit with the Bills will take place on June 4th.

Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown posted a picture to his Twitter account on Thursday that included himself and Legursky alongside Maurkice Pouncey, Kelvin Beachum and John Malecki and it looked as if it might have been taken at the team facility. That, however, has not been confirmed.

Legursky served as the Steelers backup center and swing guard since 2009, but it appears that Beachum is being given every opportunity to assume that role in 2013.

About Dave Bryan

I am, I'm me. 40 something, retired and a life long Steelers fan.

Good for him.. I hope he does find a job

If Pouncey goes down, God forbid, the Steelers would like to have someone like Legursky, who has experience at the center position, step in. With that being I think the Steelers will take their chances on Madsen or Beachum to step in at the center position barring injury to Pouncey. Hopefully Beachum gets a better grasp on the center position in the days to come.

Lego is a good dude and a good Steeler (in many facets of the word) – period. If the upper management lets him walk then shame on them. He has a family to feed too.

  • Douglas Andrews

Good Center but a liability at G for us. Hope he can land somewhere If all he is asked to do is play C he can work out well for what ever team picks him up

That’s why I wanted Ryan Lee, not only he’s a guard/center but he also can do long-snapping. This scenario we’d have ryan lee, Kelvin Beachem, and whoever at tackle. 8 true O-linemen but no long snapper. That’s how I would have wanted it but the Steelers saw and followed different path.

Its not Lego…it’s Lurk! As in he’s Lurking! lol!

Alexander Sebastian Heath III. . .I agree! Ryan Lee baby!

We all like Bronco and the best of luck to him, we are hopefully moving on with a new era of Olinemen.

I liked Lee too but my memory has been slight as of late and I do not remember him getting snaps at center. I could be very wrong.

I still like Legs and I hope he is a June 2 signing with the Steelers. His guy putting out that June 4 visit date, just after the Steelers get their extra cap space, sounds like no coincidence to me.

They should not sign him for more than a veteran minimum qualifying contract. If he is not available for the minimum, move on to the next G/C who is.

  • Buccos9

Best news I’ve heard all day. Time to move on.

Lego let Habib run over him inthe GB super bowl causing a 14 pt swing. Wallace was breaking open and Ben was letting one of his characteristic bombs fly, Habib hit his arm and Green Bay had an easy seven instead. Hope the best for Legursky but keeping his family fed would have been easier if he had a SuperBowl ring to sell…

    Right arm!

One play – albeit a bad one – doesn’t make or break a game. There’s a whole team out there and on any given play during any given game someone makes a bad play.
