Safety Ryan Clark Talks Steelers Offseason Moves & Draft On NFL Live

I passed along the word Sunday night that Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark would be all over ESPN this week and on Monday he was a guest analyst on NFL Live.

During the hour long show, Clark was asked if he thought that the Steelers did enough this offseason.

“Well if you look historically at the Steelers, we\’re not a very active team in free agency, said Clark. We don\’t bring in top name free agents. We try to stand pat as much as possible and we develop through the draft.

“You get Jarvis Jones in the first round to replace James Harrison, who left via free agency. You also come back with Le\’Veon Bell, who\’s the kind of bell cow that Pittsburgh Steelers fans and Steeler Nation is used to having. You get Markus Wheaton in the third round to add to receiving core, after losing Mike Wallace. You also keep Emmanuel Sanders from leaving in restricted free agency to New England.”

Clark then went on to say that whether or the not the Steelers are successful in 2013 all depends on the play and health of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

“It\’s going to depend on Ben,” said Clark. “If Ben comes back and Ben is able to lead our offense, and stay healthy – which is a key – which is why we brought offensive coordinator Todd Haley in. If Ben stays healthy and he doesn\’t throw the picks that we have late in the season, we\’re speaking differently about the Steelers going into 2013 then we are now.”

So, did Clark even answer the original question asked of him? It seems like to me that he just recapped the offseason and the Steelers views toward free agency. We all know that in order for the Steelers to win it all every year that Roethlisberger has to stay healthy. No news there, Ryan.
