Mike Tomlin Cancels Steelers Final Minicamp Practice Thursday

If you were looking forward to Pittsburgh Steelers players wearing funny hats on Thursday, you will surely be disappointed as head coach Mike Tomlin called off the final mini camp practice of the 2013 season.

The Steelers will next get together on the fields of Saint Vincent College in Latrobe for training camp on July 26th.

Tomlin must have been pleased with the four weeks of offseason practices, or he just wanted to get out to his annual Giant Eagle Coach Tomlin Football ProCamp that got underway this morning at Brashear High School.

The Steelers had a very successful offseason of football in shorts, and I say that because there were no serious injuries reported over the course of the practices. Anything above and beyond that is just gravy.

The players will now go their own ways with many of them scheduled to resume their own private training sessions while keeping the playbook in the front of their mind. Tomlin has preached physical conditioning all offseason, so I suspect the group knows that they better be ready to hit the ground running in just over a month from right now.

Mini camp is teaching session more than anything, and the Steelers had solid attendance throughout the four weeks with only rookie Markus Wheaton missing all the practices. The pads will go on at Latrobe, and that\’s when the real roster battles start.
