Steelers T Mike Adams Post Picture Of 33 Staples Needed During Surgery

Pittsburgh Steelers tackle Mike Adams is still recovering in the hospital from surgery following him being stabbed early Saturday morning during an attempted carjacking.

Adams posted a Vine Sunday morning that Twitter user @FakeMarkzila passed along to me via a screenshot and it shows Adams needed 33 staples to repair his injuries.

Adams is expected to be sidelined six to eight weeks as a result of his injuries and perhaps DoctorNoah, one of our commenters here, would care to chime in on what we are seeing and if it is what he originally speculated.

Having assisted on many surgeries, it shows top wound is the stab site. Lower incisions likely to be by surgeon, one to inspect by fiber optic video, the other to repair damage if necessary and suction pooled blood. (note clean incision lines and shave line) While incisions are lateral, muscle wall incision internally should have been vertical. If there had been major damage, there would have been a large vertical incision, sternum to navel. He indeed is a lucky man. I would be surprised if he is back to “normal” in 6 to 8 weeks.

We have 14 weeks I believe. The Steelers need to prepare for life without Adams, 3 is not even close to a coincidence. Colbert made three gambles last year and lost every one. I am ok with taking a shot, but you have to be ready to cut your losses quickly too

yes cause he went out looking to get stabbed right? what has he done wrong since being drafted? NOTHING ever since he had the meeting with Colbert and Co predraft hes been a model citizen, He wasnt out causing or looking for trouble, hes a young guy out on a friday night nothing more.

like dave said in an earlier report…out at 3am at a club/bar is not very smart. plus dave said not first time he has been seen out at that time of day. not smart. its called common sense. kinda like not smokin weed before your combines knowing your going to get tested. not smart.

Was it Cowher that said to Porter, “Nothing good happens after midnight.”?
You can’t really give him a conduct penalty for this, but it’s certainly worth a stern talkin’ to.

  • Isaac Reveles

last i checked this is america and you can do what you want at 3 in the morning. he didnt get a DUI, he didnt get into a fight, he wasnt looking for trouble, he definitely didnt go out asking to get stabbed! not very smart? get out of here with that crap. he has done nothing wrong since being drafted, since when did it become law that if drafted by the steelers you have to stay in your home or else fans try and say youre stupid for having went out for a few drinks?

  • r4kolb

@ Isaac tell me, you are a professional football player, you have a weekness for weed that almost derailed your career and cost you a lot of money due to dropping in the draft to the second round, you are to big to not get noticed in a crowd, you are out at 3am in a club surrounded by a bunch of people you don’t know, some who get real stupid when they get drunk, what GOOD can come of this? Seriously? Name one GOOD thing?

  • Shea Fahr

…he also lied to coaches at combine about it.

  • steeler4life

less Pictures more in getting your butt back to training. GOT TO USE BETTER JUDGMENT!!!!

  • charles

Was that what your sources say he was looking for?

This is the off season. No contact at this stage. None of you are the treating Surgeon and the wounds may not be that bad. I have not heard or read he was cut with a Bowie knife or K-Bar, more likely a folder and that means likely a 31/2 inch and possibly up to 5. He does have a gut… There is no reason to indict Adams, none of you know what he was doing. You are all a bunch of kneejerk armchair GMs and should shut it.

  • calisteelerfan

Thank you Dr. Baden for your Professional opinion having “assisted” on many surgeries… LOL. Let me guess, nurse or tech? Either way you shouldn’t speculate…its all you are doing.
