Fast Willie Parker Thinks Steelers Rookie RB Le\’Veon Bell Is Smooth

The Pittsburgh Steelers once again have quite a few former players in camp serving as coaching interns as Rod Woodson, Chris Hoke and Rod Rutherford are all present at Latrobe and passing on their knowledge to players.

A name, however, that seems to have slipped underneath the radar is that of Willie Parker, who is participating in the NFL’s minority fellowship program. Last July, Parker was hired to the Wesleyan College coaching staff, but now that head coach Jonas Jackson has resigned, it appears as though Parker is out of a job.

“I am easing my way into coaching,” said Parker. “It’s great to be back here. Being back in Latrobe gives me the camp jitters. At the same time it’s fun being back with the coaches, players and everyone.”

More than likely, Parker will be assisting running backs coach Kirby Wilson over the course of the next few weeks and that means he will be giving rookie running back Le\’Veon Bell a few pointers every now and again. Parker was asked about the Steelers second-round draft pick on Saturday.

“Oh man, he\’s smooth,” said Parker. “I haven\’t seen him getting hit, or anything like that, but he\’s got the mechanics and stuff to be a great running back.”
