Heath Miller, Sean Spence, David Johnson & Alameda Ta\’amu Placed On PUP List

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin held his first training camp press conference on Friday afternoon following the completion of the team conditioning test and told the media that tight end Heath Miller (knee), tight end David Johnson, linebacker Sean Spence (knee) and nose tackle Alameda Ta\’amu (hamstring) would begin camp on the Active PUP list

Tomlin said the hamstring probklem that Ta\’amu has is a prexisting one that might have him sidelined for a few days. The coach also refused to speculate as to when any of the other three players would be ready to practice.

As far as tackle Mike Adams (stabbing) goes, Tomlin said that he has received full clearance which means he should be able to practice right away.

Tomlin said that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (knee) is still experiencing a little discomfort in the knee he had cleaned up at the end of OTA\’s, but that it won\’t stop him from doing what he needs to do in practice.

Tackle Marcus Gilbert was carted off after the run test, but Tomlin said that he didn\’t know anything about that. It appears as though Gilbert was just doubled over and perhaps extremely winded, but we will have to see if there is anything more to it than that.

Lol Gilbert gets carted off after a RUN drill? KOBE blows out his Achilles..shoots free throws and WALKS off the court

  • Shea Fahr

    Hampton on speed dial??

  • sgtrobo

yeah, that one jumped out at me especially because Pouncey gave Gilbert a butt-chewing during his rookie season for showing up to camp in crappy shape.

  • sgtrobo

i think that is the case regardless of what happens in training camp. We still have Fanupo and Al Woods to try at NT behind McLendon

  • Bradys_Dad

Lazy does as lazy is. And this is what’s protecting Ben’s blindside. Let’s hope that there’s a whole heckuva lot of dink and dunk passes dialed in otherwise Ben’s going to spend the year running for his life.

  • Kenneth Wilt

If David Johnson has any shot at making the club, which is probably up for debate anyway, this could really hurt him….especially if he can’t shake it.

  • Jazz

I knew it! That guy is a piece of S$!T; this is the guy that’s suppose to protect Ben’s Blindside? They didn’t resign Starks, huge mistake. These were some of the same reports that were coming out of Florida three years ago when they drafted that Lump of Lard. If he’s out of shape, Tomlin and Colbert should be reprimanded.

  • sgtrobo

yup. although Max wasn’t exactly known for being in great shape and he was decent in pass pro

  • Steve

Coach needs to put in his contract about being in shape, $$$ talk and bullshit walks.

  • Shannon Stephenson

DJ…u better get your act together bro…this is do or die for you!

  • Christopher Wilkes

Gilbert was carted off? Are you serious? Wow! Here we go, again(sigh).

  • joed32

He ran the conditioning test and passed but was in some discomfort afterwards. He was gassed or cramped or maybe just sick. It’s not like he was carried off on a stretcher, just rode on a cart.

  • Milliken Steeler

I read an article that he showed up in better shape and weighs less. They said he had bad leg cramps and thats why he dropped and was carted off the field. I hope so because he is my weak link on this line and I’m concerned over a few things about him actually.

  • sgtrobo

i think several of us share those same concerns, such as dedication, toughness, and ability. He has the last one, just not so sure about the first 2
