CB Cortez Allen And TE David Johnson Expected To Play Against Chiefs

The Pittsburgh Steelers should get two key players back Saturday night in their third preseason game of the season against the Kansas City Chiefs as both cornerback Cortez Allen and tight end David Johnson are in uniform.

Allen returned to practice prior to the Monday night game against the Washington Redskins after being sidelined following minor knee surgery at the start of training camp.

Johnson was removed from the Active PUP list last week and this will be his first game action since he suffered a serious injury over a year ago in the opening preseason game of the 2012 season.

The Steelers need Johnson to show Saturday night that he can handle the duties associated with being an inline blocker as second-year tight end David Paulson has struggled in that area of his game during the first two preseason games.

Allen will likely start Saturday night and he could move into the slot when the Steelers use their nickel package.

Off the subject, but it’s half-time. And at 42, I guess I qualify as “old-school” now…compared to the football of today.
But ****************!!!!!!! If a QB is out of the pocket, as a runner, and Troy P. turns completely sideways and delivers a shot to the sternum…HOW is that a penalty?

This comes on 2 levels…1) was that actually a penalty in this NEW era of NFL football? And if it indeed was:
    2) Dang, what a shame. I’m one of those who DO NOT see the light at the end of the tunnel for the taking away of the collision part of the game. Troy P. clearly tried his best, he turned sideways, and he got flagged. Probably will get fined too…and put on “the list”.
As the new era of NFL football comes about, and guys like Cam Newton DWARF Troy Polamalu in size/weight…I just can’t help but continue to be disgusted by the way these new rules are.
Yep, it was off-subject. I’ll probably type this same sentiment several more times as new articles arrive. smh.
