Giants Starters Might Play A Quarter Against The Steelers Saturday Night

The Pittsburgh Steelers will play their first preseason game of the 2013 season Saturday night against the New York Giants and while we don\’t know yet how long head coach Mike Tomlin will play his starters, his good friend Tom Coughlin said Wednesday that his starters might play the first quarter.

Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPNNewYork.com, however, reports defensive end Justin Tuck (back), guard Chris Snee (hip), cornerback Terrell Thomas (knee) and wide receiver Hakeem Nicks (groin) as players who might be held out of the game as a precaution.

Tomlin is expected to address the media Thursday morning and will more than likely announce his intentions as it relates to playing time Saturday night for his first-team players.

While it is not official yet, cornerback Cortez Allen (knee), cornerback Curtis Brown (ankle), cornerback DeMarcus Van Dyke (hamstring), cornerback Terry Hawthorne (knee) and tight end Matt Spaeth (foot) aren\’t expected to play Saturday night.

With so many cornerbacks out injured right now, you can expect young cornerbacks Josh Victorian, Isaiah Green, Buddy Jackson, Ryan Steed and the newly signed Devin Smith to see a lot of action once starters Ike Taylor and William Gay are removed from the game.
