Mike Tomlin Says Steelers TE Heath Miller Is Progressing Nicely

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced Tuesday during his press conference that tight end Heath Miller, who remains on the Active PUP list, will not play Thursday night in the preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers, but the fact that he included him in his run down of the injured players is encouraging.

“He’s doing great, he really is,” Tomlin said, when asked to give an update on Miller. “We’re going to look more hardcore at him when we get back from Carolina, obviously, but the fact that I mentioned his name will give an indication that things are progressing and progressing nicely.”

This is certainly great news as Miller is currently just eight months removed from his knee surgery and it is looking good that he will be removed from the PUP list prior to next Tuesday.

While he still might not be ready for the season opener, Miller will at least be able to start working his way back into football shape as he will be allowed to practice with the team once removed from the PUP list.
