Mike Tomlin Snaps At Thursday\’s Exchanges

Not only were Steelers hurting Steelers during Thursday\’s training camp practice, but there were also Steelers beating Steelers as well. Head coach Mike Tomlin said following practice that he wasn\’t too pleased with a few center exchanges that took place during the session.

“Good day\’s work in general,” said Tomlin. “A few too many center-quarterback exchanges, whether the quarterback is up under or in shotgun, that can put a stain on a practice. I think we had three of them. We\’ve got to be better than that. Obviously, that\’s Steelers beating Steelers.”

While Tomlin didn\’t say specifically which unit or units were responsible for the bad exchanges, we can only hope that Ben Roethlisberger and Maurkice Pouncey weren\’t the culprits.

It was reported Thursday afternoon that second-year offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum will get work at center Monday night against the Washington Redskins and that work could include him playing with the first-team offense in addition. It will be his NFL debut at the position and perhaps even the first time he\’s played center during his entire football career.

The Steelers beat themselves enough last weekend in the preseason opener against the New York Giants, so we don\’t need to see a repeat of that Monday night. Should there be any bad snaps during the game, Tomlin might snap himself during his post-game press conference.
