Report: Steelers RB Le\’Veon Bell Scheduled To Start Against Redskins

While it is certainly subject to change, Mike Prisuta of DVE Radio reports Monday morning on Twitter that Pittsburgh Steelers rookie running back Le\’Veon Bell is scheduled to get the start tonight against the Washington Redskins.

During his Saturday press conference, head coach Mike Tomlin was noncommittal as to whether or not Bell would make his NFL debut Monday night being as he had aggravated the left knee bruise that forced him to miss the preseason opener against the New York Giants earlier in the week during practice.

Bell impressed the coaching staff during training camp and everyone is certainly anticipating him finally getting playing time in the preseason. Despite him going down this past week, Bell was able to return to practice the following day and said the injury was not as bad as most feared it was.

Im not sure how to feel about this…obviously he was cleared medically, but man I would hate any setbacks at this point

  • Dom

    We cant bubblewrap him forever

  • steeltown

Agreed, but there are 2 more preseason games after tonights matchup, ample time for him to get much needed reps.. but regardless im hoping for a strong showing

  • Matt Searls

He’s in a battle, if he wants the starting job he has to show what he’s got. And if he’s cleared then there’s no way hel take himself out

  • Ken

I’m guessing there are at least 5 other people starting tonight hurting more than he is… It’s a ruff game.

  • Josh Gustad

I say let him play a couple offensive possessions than rest him. The coaches know what they have in Bell. Just like the majority of us, they want to see him in game like situations.

  • dgh57

That’s right. He’s not playing the whole game just maybe the 1st half if that at the most. Time to see what he can do!

  • steeltown

No doubt he wouldn’t take himself out, he would’ve played last week if they’d let him

  • StrengthOfVictory

He wouldn’t play if Tomlin had second thoughts. Time to see what this kid is made of. I, for one, can’t wait!

  • ATL96STEELER

I would give him til the week 3 preseason gm when the starters typically go 3Qs, but he’s a rookie. I can also buy the thought of getting him some reps tonight if he can play and obviously they think he can play.

  • RMSteeler

All the reports I’ve seen were that it was a bruised knee first and aggravated. If so, might as well as get used to playing through that kind of pain.

  • joed32

Yes, didn’t he just aggravate it on Thursday?
