Report: Steelers Rookie LB Jarvis Jones Tweaks Groin Thursday

The injuries appear to be piling up Thursday for the Pittsburgh Steelers during their Thursday practice as Dale Lolley of the Washington Observer is now reporting on Twitter that rookie linebacker Jarvis Jones has tweaked his groin. Lolley does not believe the injury is serious, however.

Earlier in practice, running back Isaac Redman was sidelined following him taking a big hit from linebacker Larry Foote on the first play from scrimmage. Bob Labriola of Steelers Live seems to think Redman suffered a stinger.

A short time after Redman was sidelined, rookie running back Le\'Veon Bell suffered an injury to his left leg. According to several members of the media, the Steelers second-round draft pick now has ice wrapped around his left knee.

At this rate, Mike Tomlin will have quite a few injuries to recap at the conclusion of practice.

The Steelers are scheduled to break training camp Saturday and will play the Washington Redskins Monday night on the road in their second preseason game of the year.

  • Glenn Gilbert

There’s a reason every team stopped doing full contact. Injuries DON’T help us win games!!!

  • Shea Fahr

Gotta hate groin injuries because they are too dang hard to speculate on…

    This!

  • Mike.H

groin injuries take away your “burst” and bring pain in your every step… ouch.

  • Matt Searls

I’m so glad camp is ending. Resttttt them

  • Jason Brant

Groin injuries can linger for a long time. Hopefully it really is minor.

  • Jack Gardner

Injuries happen, and unfortunately they happen to important players! I sometimes think of it as a chance for the others to step up and get valuable reps in!

  • TJimmy

Seems about half of this draft class has now missed time due to injury. When will it end?

  • WilliamSekinger

There is also a reason the Steelers continue to be one of the most physical teams in the NFL. They continue what they do! Oh and by the way, they were doing the same thing in those SB years as well.

  • AndyR34

A lot of it will end when God..ell gets his wish and turns it into the National Flag Football League.

  • brent

That’s not an accurate statement. The Steelers havent hit like this since the 80s. One of the Pittsburgh papers did an article called “tomlin taking a page from Nolls book”. I believe it has been since like 86 since they ran practice like this.

  • steeltown

Damn… we do not need this kid slowed by injury, he needs as many healthy reps as he can get to be prepared mentally and physically

  • JPDQ

Yup, same thing happened last year when two of our top three picks were essentially done for the year before Week 1.

  • treeher

All due to imposed restrictions on practice time during camp, forcing teams to go to too much contact too early. Injuries up all over the league. Players union thought they were “protecting” players from injury during camp. Opposite is true. Restrictions need to be re-evaluated.
