Report: Steelers WR Plaxico Burress Suffered A Torn Rotator Cuff

According to Adam Schefter on Twitter, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress suffered a torn right rotator cuff Thursday during practice and it could sideline for the season.

Burress, who reportedly had his arm in a sling after practice, landed on his shoulder after failing to come down with a ball that was contested by cornerback Ryan Steed and safety DaMon Cromartie-Smith.

If indeed Burress is out for the season, sixth-round draft pick Justin Brown and Derek Moye will most likely do battle for the fifth wide receiver spot moving forward if a veteran free agent is not signed.

Burress was re-signed right at the start of the free agent signing period this past offseason after registering three receptions and a touchdown in four games with the Steelers last season in limited playing time. Burress will turn 36 next week, so this could indeed be the end of the road for him.
