Steelers Claim TE Michael Palmer Off Waivers From Seahawks; Waive TE John Rabe

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made yet another roster move on Thursday as the official NFL transaction release shows they have claimed tight end Michael Palmer off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks and waived tight end John Rabe to make room for him on the 90 man roster.

Palmer was originally signed by the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Clemson in 2010. In three seasons with the Falcons he played in 43 games and registered 21 catches for 123 yards and three touchdowns. Palmer had signed with the Seahawks on July 23 after being released in late May by the New York Giants.

Rabe wasn\’t with the Steelers long as the Minnesota product was signed to the roster on July 31.

Earlier in the day, the Steelers signed free agent tight end Nathan Overbay and waived tackle Mike Farrell.

boy we searching like hell for a TE… uhm Rabe must have really sucked on his one day of training camp.. we picked him and cut him real fast.

  • Christopher Wilkes

Ya know, I really think this is a good signing. He might get cut once Heath is back, but this guy could make the 53 the way things are currently looking at the position. If only we could find a decent vet to play some CB in the meantime while the wounded heal, and maybe a WR now that Plax is done for the year/career.
