Steelers LB Jarvis Jones And RB Isaac Redman To Sit Out Final Preseason Game

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin met the media on Wednesday and he ran down the list of injured players.

Rookie linebacker Jarvis Jones was ruled out for the Thursday night preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers by Tomlin as he is still recovering from an AC chest sprain that he suffered Saturday night.

In addition to Jones, Tomlin also ruled out running backs Le’Veon Bell (foot) and Isaac Redman (stinger) for the game in addition to tight end Heath Miller (knee).

“Obviously we got a lot of backs that we need to sort through,” Tomlin said. “We know what he’s [Redman] capable of, so we’re going to look at some of those others, like [LaRod] Stephens-Howling, like Jonathan Dwyer and of course the newly-acquired Felix Jones.”

Kicker returner Reggie Dunn was forced to sit out Monday’s practice and Tomlin updated his status as well.

“He’s a possibility and if and how much we use him will be determined on how he looks out there really largely today and of course moving forward into Wednesday,” said Tomlin. “He’s nursing a minor injury to his shoulder, we’ll see how he looks out there and let that determine how we proceed.”

Excited to see LSH back.. and looking forward to seeing more Felix Jones

I think Reggie Dunn should have hidden his injury,…he needs to be on the field this week to make the team!

Reggie has to get back out there, and, preferably, take one to the house Thursday night ! Also, LSH needs 1-4 carries and then sit his butt down 🙂

Does anyone know if Redman is even practicing?

Based on that comment about the running backs, I have the feeling Tomlin intends to carry only 4 RBs on final 53 men roster, with LSH, Dwyer and Jones battling for the last 2 spots.

I don’t know if he’s practiced, but Tomlin said it was a precautionary measure to hold him out, and that the fact that the team wants to get a look at the other guys because they know what they have in Redman already also play a role. I can’t say for sure, but I think he would be playing if this were a regular season game.

I hope Luke Kuechly doesnt start for the Panthers because it would be stupid for them to use him, and I do not want to see anybody else go down in the preseason.
