Steelers Monday Post Training Camp Practice Injury Report

It\’s probably a good thing that Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin had the team back in shorts on Monday as several players remained sidelined with bumps and bruises and contused birth certificates.

According to Jim Wexell of Steel City Insider on Twitter, not practicing on Monday were Troy Polamalu (birth certificate), Curtis McNeal (unknown), Plaxico Burress (unknown), Ross Ventrone (unknown), Terry Hawthorne (knee), Jarvis Jones (unknown), DeMarcus Van Dyke (hamstring), Cortez Allen (knee), Steve McLendon (unknown) and Lawrence Timmons (personal).

The Steelers announced that Alameda Ta\’amu (hamstring) has been activated off the PUP list on Monday, so it appears as though his hamstring is good to go..

Tomlin said after practice that Matt Spaeth (knee), Nick Williams (knee) and Larry Foote (unknown) all returned to practice on Monday and that he expects several more to return by the time the team returns to the field on Wednesday.

The only new injury on Monday was to Curtis Brown, who suffered an ankle injury of some sorts. Brown was on crutches following practice, according to Wexell, so it appears as though he might be sidelined for a while.

Not good for Brown if his injury takes a while to heal.

Maybe all the live tackling took a bit of a toll after all

Oh well, they are getting used to playing PHYSICAL again….imagine that.

if this keeps up Dick Lebeau is going to have to suit up again…

sounds like they are not getting babied this season …but in saying that the steelers need to find out why they are getting so many knee injuries every year is it the shoes field or just bad foot work …

I was really hoping that Hawthorne would be a quick heal. Maybe by Wednesday?

God I hope soon, not that I think he’ll contribute much this season, but I hope he gets some much needed reps in at camp and plays in atleast 2 of the preseason games and shows enough to warrant a roster spot

They weren’t wearing pads on Monday, he went up to defend a pass and came down wrong on the ankle. Those things happen, it wasn’t a carryover from the live tackling.

  • Matt Searls

Yeah coach lake spoke highly of him from what I remember.
